On Saturday 17 October, the ULM club Albatros, based in Auch, offered free introductory flights to women so that they could discover the region. Flying in a microlight, an aircraft fitted with an engine: that is what the Auch club had on offer. It is a club that loves having women on board, including as pilots.
Free introductory microlight flights were offered first, on Saturday 3 October, so that women could discover Auch and its surroundings as they had never seen them before. The introductory flight is offered free of charge to women aged 15 and over.

As every year for the past six years, the Albatros microlight club in Auch offered microlight flights to all women. Many candidates came forward. The aim of the day could not be simpler: "To make this activity better known and to show that women can take part in air sports just as men do." Men are indeed over-represented in this field. Only 3% of microlight pilots in the Gers are women.
It also reflects a wish at federal and national level to make the activity known to women. The day was sponsored by the Gers departmental council and the Gers Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee.
After a first postponement because of bad weather, the flights with an instructor were able to take place a few days later, although unfortunately the weather god Aeolus disrupted part of the day. Of the 24 flights planned, 11 participants were able to take an introductory flight and discover piloting, thanks to the club's volunteers. 13 vouchers were therefore handed out so that the unlucky candidates can be given their flights later.
For 20 minutes they were able to see Auch and its surroundings from above, discover sport flying and club life, and celebrate the involvement of women in sports clubs.
Barrier measures were scrupulously observed. Wearing a mask was compulsory.
