Prevention

Like the whole of the French sporting movement, the FFPLUM wants to ensure the well-being of everyone in sporting and recreational microlight flying, protect its members in their activities and develop an ethical culture across its affiliated microlight clubs and schools.

Who is it for?
We are all concerned. The FFPLUM is pursuing several measures, built into its reference materials, to run awareness-raising among its members, aimed specifically at:

  • Managers of microlight clubs and schools
  • Microlight instructors and coaches
  • Microlight pilots and those around them
  • Elite microlight athletes

What are we fighting?
Violence can take many forms and all of them must be fought. Violence can involve force and threats, but it can also result from, or take, other forms such as:

  • Psychological harassment
  • Sexual violence
  • Hazing
  • Discrimination
  • Online violence

How?

  1. Raising awareness among everyone involved, with targeted information using federal tools and materials.

  2. Building prevention measures into the training pathway for pilots and instructors, with a presentation of the available tools and how to use them.

  3. Supporting and helping victims through the different steps and pathways.

THE CHARTER OF ETHICS AND PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT

By choosing to be a player in the microlight movement, the pilot, beginner or experienced, the France Team member, the instructor, the flight director, the manager, the parent and the partner are all custodians of the values this sport stands for, and are responsible, individually and collectively, for defending and promoting them. As a result, everyone will be asked to adhere to the charter below and to promote it in all circumstances.

Inspired by the recommendations of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee but faithful to the identity of our federation, this charter aims, without pretension but with conviction, to give examples of good practice that will allow microlighting to continue to develop and to face tomorrow's great challenges with confidence.

INTEGRITY CHECKS FOR OFFICERS AND INSTRUCTORS

The FFPLUM regularly carries out integrity checks on its officers and instructors, raising awareness among its members throughout the year.

What are we talking about?

The integrity check system is part of the members' digital area (Exalto). In practice, the integrity check consists of consulting the national automated judicial register of perpetrators of sexual and violent offences (FIJAISV) for all instructors and certain officers who are FFPLUM members.

What is it for?

The purpose of this check is to identify, among the members, those who are not allowed to act as instructors or officers and to make sure they are removed from those roles. A guide for club officers is available.

PREVENTING SEXUAL VIOLENCE IN SPORT

Abuse and sexual harassment occur in every sporting and recreational discipline and at every level of practice. Minors or adults, members or casual participants, recreational or experienced competitors: the French Microlight Federation is committed to fighting this sexual violence and to better protecting those who take part.

What are we talking about?

Violence can result from, or take the form of, manipulation, seduction, control or abuse of authority. The use of force and threats alone does not explain what makes an act sexual violence.
