La Réole Gathering

The Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Microlight Committee organised a large pilots' gathering on 14 July at La Réole LFDR.
After a far too long lockdown, it let pilots meet up in a friendly, good-humoured atmosphere. A real microlight gathering, with 45 aircraft: there were as many tube-and-fabric machines as latest-generation microlights, and they are all one family. What matters most to a microlight pilot is to fly and to meet other pilots.
In the current Covid-19 context, all barrier measures were properly observed: masks and hand sanitiser were available to participants.
The 80 pilots came from 9 of the 12 departments of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Some flew more than 2h30 in a weight-shift microlight to come and share a convivial moment. We congratulate them and thank them for coming.
Some clubs came with several aircraft, such as the APILUL club from Usseau, or the St-Même club.
A delicious meal was served to all our guests by members of the Regional Committee. It helped renew ties between pilots from different Nouvelle-Aquitaine clubs after a season that began under the shadow of COVID.
The Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Microlight Committee thanks all the pilots who travelled, some of them from very far away.
For a first, it was a great success that will be repeated in the years to come.
