On Sunday 2 July 2023, the "A AIR O" microlight club opened its doors to show what it does.
The "A AIR O" microlight club is a non-profit club created in 2018 and affiliated to the FFPLUM. It is based in the north of France at Lille Marcq-en-Barœul aerodrome (LFQO). It has some thirty members holding a federation licence. The association is headed by Gaëlle and Vincent DROULEZ, himself an instructor at the microlight club.
Around 80 people turned up. Each club member was asked to invite people from their circle who wanted to discover the world of aviation, with a particular emphasis on women and young people. On offer were discounted introductory flights.
Several activities punctuated the day:
- More than thirty introductory flights were made throughout the day, mainly in three-axis microlights but also a few in gyroplanes.
- A flight simulator.
- A stand devoted to drones with a flight demonstration during the day.
- Musical entertainment with a DJ, covers of popular songs performed by a talented musician, and a belly dance demonstration.
The French Microlight Federation was represented by Julien Tourbez, a local pilot and head of the federal Digital Division. He gave gyroplane introductory flights.
The volunteers of the "A AIR O" club organised the day with dedication and care, so as to introduce all the participants to the passion of microlighting and share it with enthusiasm.
