Entering without radio contact - LF-R95 - Le Luc - Le Cannet airfield

A reminder to all our pilots and users of airfields beneath the LF-R95 zones and the heavy activity associated with Le Luc airfield. We regret 4 entries into LF-R 95 without radio contact in the last few weeks alone, some of which led to avoidance manoeuvres.

For information, here are a few points to bear in mind:

In 2022, Le Luc – Le Cannet airfield handled:

  • 28 994 controlled movements at the airfield, including 3 000 instrument movements;
  • 17 168 air transits;
  • parachuting activity at weekends and on public holidays;
  • the summer fire and forest fire rescue arrangement: 2 water-bombing helicopters plus Civil Security permanently in summer.

We can be activated 24 hours a day, but at present most often from 08:00 to 03:00 local time, Monday to Thursday, and on Fridays from 08:00 to around 17:00.

It is therefore essential to follow the radio contact or self-information procedure outside office hours and above all to make contact before entering the zones.

VOLTAC ZONE
In addition, our helicopters fly daily between the ground and 500 ft in the VOLTAC LUC sector, so the greatest caution is advised there.
