Safety in Figures - BSV No. 61
The table below summarises the accident statistics recorded from 1st January to the end of May 2019, classifying casualties by severity and distinguishing accidents involving material damage only.
The monthly statistics are updated with the latest known information (see the chart below), although not all minor accidents may appear for the current month because they sometimes reach us late.
The statistics at the start of the year clearly show a marked fall in accidents compared with last year (see the 2018 graph below as a reminder). Even though the year is far from over, the pilot awareness actions (REV + communications) very probably contribute to improving collective caution.
Despite these encouraging results, we recommend maintaining the greatest vigilance among our ranks, because the summer period is still to come and the statistics can easily rise again. In view of certain accidents, we will therefore continue to recommend that any pilot with the slightest doubt about their next flight, rather than risk breaking their machine, would do better to take advantage of a "REV" with an instructor.
Wishing everyone good flying.
