These orders and their annexes are the result of long, complex and fruitful work with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, particularly with the departments of the Directorate for Safety and Regulation, and those of the General and Helicopter Light Aviation Mission.
Our regulations were more than twenty years old, and changes were needed to reflect the evolution of both our activity and teaching methods.
The work, begun under the previous term of office, has preserved and promoted the spirit of our regulations, based on Responsibility and Freedom. It both guarantees the consistency of training and maintains the specific nature of our activities.
We worked very effectively with the SNPPAL in a spirit of collegiality on such an essential subject. We would like to thank its president, Serge Marolle.
Since March 2017, Jean-Christophe Gibert (head of the Training committee) has taken responsibility for the federation in finalising the work, in close collaboration with Louis Collardeau (First Vice-President in charge of regulations). We would also like to highlight the work of Pierre-Henri Lopez (former President, now Second Vice-President), who had to lead this reform at the end of the previous term of office, as well as the role of the lead instructors for each class and the instructor training centres.
The texts are only a beginning. Now we have to bring them to life.
The federation will launch (from February 2018) a major Training and Safety action, Return to Flying, which will be encouraging rather than binding and will make instructors the central pillar of our safety culture.
