Since April 1994, the aerodrome has been managed under an agreement and free of charge by the AUPASE (Association of Users of the Salon Eyguières Aeronautical Platform), a non-profit association bringing together all the clubs based on the airfield. With no subsidy at all and thanks to the work of its volunteers, it has ensured the safety of the airfield and its compliance with civil aviation regulations, with respect for environmental constraints, as well as the construction and upkeep of the runways and facilities.

Today, the municipality of Eyguières (13430) has decided to privatise the management of this aerodrome by creating a private-law company (SEMOP) with a private shareholder entering its capital, who will have to make the aerodrome as profitable as possible by favouring the most profitable activities. This new arrangement, which aims to break with association values and break the aerodrome's long tradition, will have the following consequences:

  • ousting the AUPASE as the representative of the 1200 users,
  • sharply increasing fees,
  • increasing noise nuisance, which has so far been well controlled by responsible management,
  • and heavily committing the commune's finances and making the taxpayer bear all the operating risks.

An online petition has been launched by the AUPASE to alert as many people as possible to this threat.

Defending airfields is one of the priorities of the CNFAS federations. Consequently, the FFPLUM, which has many members based at this airfield, supports the AUPASE's action to reject this operation, which aims to break with the association values that we defend.

Thank you for your support.
