Amboise, via the Loire Châteaux

Thursday 26 July, evening
It was so hot at La Flèche, 35 degrees on average, that the club had the excellent idea of inflating an above-ground pool so we could cool off. The Tour used up the entire stock of cold drinks and the coffee machine gave up the ghost in the heat. We had no weather constraints on taking off early and take-offs were spread through the afternoon. The navigation consisted mainly of joining the Loire at Blois and then following the magic of its châteaux: Chambord, Chaumont and Chenonceau, for example. Before that we had to cross the plain with thermals that were sharp and lively.
Amboise-Dierre airfield is majestic, spread out along the Cher. It is an aeroplane airfield with a microlight section, and that is a very good thing. We should indeed use our microlights as microlights and aeroplanes as aeroplanes, all in good understanding. The welcome team was a little surprised by the Tour's organisation and the first contacts were a bit sceptical, but in the end we showed that professionalism is compatible with our freedom to fly.
The evening is very hot and good-natured. We have no incidents to report like yesterday, and that is a very good thing.
