Lurcy-Lévis, heading east, bright and early

The machine parking at Amboise looked dazzling last night. The night was peaceful and relatively cool. We decided to leave a little earlier, given the temperatures expected during the day and the risk of isolated storms late in the afternoon. The morning's navigation consisted essentially of following the Cher eastwards, via Romorantin and Vierzon, then Bourges at a good distance from Avord air base.
Lurcy airfield is about forty kilometres south of Nevers, alongside a motor racing circuit where some sixty Tour participants did two laps of the circuit in a suitable 206 and a well-pumped Beetle. The synergy between the airfield and the circuit is very pleasant. The welcome from Jean-Pierre Chamignon's aero club is absolutely extraordinary and holds little treasures if you take the trouble to look around the hangars.
Isolated small storms are starting to form and we will resume flying in exceptional heat for our final stage.

The Tour de France ULM 2018 passing through Lurcy-Lévis
During the Tour de France ULM 2018 the machines and their pilots made a stop at Lurcy-Lévis aerodrome.
Warmly welcomed by the members of the J.P CHAMIGNON aero club, the pilots were able to eat and refuel their machines in a friendly atmosphere.
Everyone left again in the late afternoon and our lovely aerodrome returned to its peaceful calm.
A memorable day that many of us will remember, looking forward to next year with impatience.
