Insurance: what insurers are offering for microlights left grounded for 2 months
News from 29 May 2020. It has not been updated since it was published: some information may have changed. Latest news
What the federation's insurer AXAXL is doing:
It is supporting the federation in improving flight safety by covering 250 Return to Flying sessions (REV) under the REV+ scheme.
It is issuing a Covid-19 grounding rebate to each of its policyholders for ground and in-flight damage cover:
- A rebate proportional to the insurance premium paid, for clubs and schools;
- A flat-rate goodwill payment of €50 for private owners.
What the other insurers are doing:
Aviabel, La Réunion Aérienne and Hayward are issuing rebates for ground and in-flight damage cover, at rates that vary from one insurer to another. The insurer Allianz has granted nothing to date.
Who is handling these rebates?
These ground and in-flight damage covers are not part of the insurance programme taken out by the federation for its members. They are individual contracts taken out through our federation broker, Air Courtage Assurances. Air Courtage Assurances will therefore handle the allocation of these rebates to each beneficiary when the contracts concerned come up for renewal.
Flying has resumed. Let's enjoy our passion again, but above all let's stay careful!
