EMF GENERAL ASSEMBLY 2023

Last weekend the EMF* general assembly took place in MADRID, hosted by the AEPAL (the Spanish microlight federation) and the RAE (the Royal Aero Club of Spain)

*(European Microlight Federation, which brings together the microlight federations of 23 European countries)

Louis COLLARDEAU (FFPLUM-France) was re-elected with a new board made up of Juan Carlos DURSTELER (AEPAL-Spain) Secretary General, Paul WINDEY (BULMF-Belgium) Treasurer, Jonas Sturla SVERRISSON (MFR-Iceland) Vice-President, Jan PAREZ (LAA CR-Czech Republic) Vice-President

On Friday 29 September the EMF was received at the offices of the Spanish Ministry of Transport and welcomed by Mr David BENITO ASTUDILLO, Director General of the Spanish DGAC. After a very complete presentation by Yago OSSET (Vice-President of the AEPAL) of the main microlight organisations and regulations in Europe, there were many exchanges with the Spanish DGAC officials working on microlight regulation;

On Saturday the General Assembly took place at the Royal Aero Club of Spain, hosted by its president Jesus Muela MORATILLA. Many subjects were discussed, in particular ease of movement for all microlights across all European countries despite the specific national regulations of each country, notably with the updating of the information online on the EMF website https://emf.aero. Also flight safety, with the extension to all European countries of electronic conspicuity systems to reduce the risk of collisions between aircraft, notably based on mobile phone apps that are compatible with one another (SAFESKY, FLYINGNEURONS, FLARM, PILOTAWARE, …).

A very thorough round table on the progress and difficulties specific to each country showed the value and necessity of these exchanges on microlight flying at European level
