CLUB PRESENTATION
We met « Les Ailes Argeliesoises », who were organising a treasure hunt for the second year running, on 8 April, as a family day at Argeliers aerodrome LF 1159 - See information on BASULM.
When it comes to organising events, the association, which has 27 members including 15 pilots, is no newcomer.
Affiliated to the FFPLUM, Les Ailes Argeliesoises regularly organise activities for young people.
On several days, for example, pupils from the BIA class in Narbonne get close to how an aeroplane, a microlight and even helicopters work, while the little ones from the holiday centre marvel at the size of the machines.
On this Easter Saturday, 300 people, from the département and neighbouring ones, were at the aerodrome; pilots from nearby clubs also came, and each time the magic works! The team was delighted to welcome a 14-year-old pilot candidate, who will soon bring some youth to this club, where exchange between generations is the « common thread » of these days. And it is this same thread that links the passion of some with the keenness of others. Knowledge and skills are shared, such as rigour and patience, preparing and checking the machine, and also team spirit.
At Argeliers, on these open days for the public, the idea of flying is shared, and that is how other vocations are born on the airfield.

Easter treasure hunt at Argeliers
For the second year running, « Les Ailes Argeliésoises », a club affiliated to the FFPLUM, Les Passerelles and Argeliers town hall organised a family day on Saturday 8 April at Argeliers aerodrome, which was beautifully decorated for the occasion.
After the machines arrived on the apron - helicopter, three-axis, weight-shift and gyroplane - it was time for the enormous shared buffet, laden with home-made dishes and local produce.
All afternoon, the Centre Socioculturel et Familial « Les Passerelles » set the children a variety of challenges (puzzle games, games of skill and concentration…).
At 16 o'clock, more than a hundred youngsters ran off in search of a rich harvest of Easter eggs, with the legendary Easter Bunny arriving by helicopter.
At the free tea-time snack, two winners burst with joy at being given two introductory flights.
This intergenerational day brought together more than 300 people. A thoroughly successful day and, as the president of Les Ailes Argeliésoises told us: « it's a pleasure! »
