On 1st and 2 July the 2th RétroMultiaxe gathering took place, organised by the A.B.U.L. club and driven by Martin De Murcia at Sainte Thorette (LF1853), in the Centre region. It was a resounding success, with no fewer than 48 vintage machines and nearly a hundred participants meeting over the weekend to talk about the origins of microlight flying. All types of vintage three-axis microlights took part, including JetFox, Wheedhopper, X-Air, Souricette, Demoiselle and many others, as well as an early gyroplane. Most of the pilots came by air from all 4 corners of France despite unkind weather, which had also affected the first edition. Participants were able to swap items at a flea market of many microlight-related objects, including engines, spare parts and accessories. It all took place in a lovely atmosphere, as the host club did everything to welcome participants as well as possible.
The 3th edition is already being prepared for 6 and 7 July 2024, with guests from the microlight world and new activities in prospect. Although all types of aircraft are invited, the microlights that are honoured and form the heart of the gathering must meet certain characteristics. They must be of old design, have been flying for more than 15 years, and be financially affordable. These elements are the heart of the spirit of RétroMultiaxe.
