Passing of Alain Dreyer, founding president of the French Microlight Federation

It is with great sadness that we learned of the death on Saturday 27 May of Alain DREYER, founding president of the French Microlight Federation in 1981, and of his passenger, during an air rally in Tunisia. The circumstances will be established later by the investigation.
Alain DREYER was held in universal esteem. His professionalism, natural authority, calm and sense of compromise allowed microlighting to develop. We all owe him part of “our” microlighting. He achieved this in good understanding with the DGAC of the time. It was with him and a few others that the current balance of our activity was found, as he recalled in an article published in ULM-info (below) and in an interview during the first edition of the MULM (Mondial de l'ULM), of which he had agreed to be patron alongside Damien Cazé (Director General of Civil Aviation).

All the Federation’s elected officials, all its staff and executives, and everyone who has counted in the history of our activity join in our immense grief and assure the families of Alain and his passenger of our sincere and deep affection at this moment that has shaken us all.

A tribute to Alain Dreyer is planned for Friday 30 June at 6 pm at the Avignon Flying Club. The burial ceremony will take place next week in the privacy of the family.
