FFPLUM INTRODUCTORY COMPETITION COURSE
This Easter weekend saw the practical introductory course in microlight competition (Classes 2-3-4) held at Pizay aerodrome (Aura), hosted by Samir and Mélanie Elari. Laurent Rapiteau and Patricia Bé led this federal course.
13 crews answered the invitation, with very varied levels, which made for rich and friendly exchanges.
- On Saturday morning the crews flew in, followed by a practical workshop on making a graduated navigation board.
After lunch, they prepared a potato-shaped photo navigation, with the option of a “regularity” leg on a straight section for the most experienced or the most daring…
On Saturday evening everyone had dinner together at the restaurant of David Rongeat, a microlight pilot and competitor from the club.
- On Sunday morning came explanations, preparation and practice of a “max beacons” exercise.
On Sunday afternoon, a potato-shaped precision navigation with hidden gates was flown.
On Sunday evening the crews returned to their home bases with their heads full of memories and several areas to work on.
In just two days, the pilots and navigators noticed a clear difference in their ability to navigate by map, and the progress was a pleasure to see.
Thank you all for your good humour.
We look forward to seeing you at the next regional competitions.
