Ile-De-France Classic Class Regional: more entrants and a higher standard!
The 2023 Ile-De-France Classic Class Microlight regional competition took place on 16 and 17 September at Mondreville (LF7752) in Seine-et-Marne. 8 crews in three-axis and weight-shift microlights took on the tasks set by Laurent Rapiteau, a well-known competition director and Team Leader of the newly formed France Microlight team. Competitors were able to put into practice the classic tasks of photo navigation and “max beacons”, which involves passing through as many beacons as possible in a given time. They also discovered new tasks from the world championship catalogue, due to be held in England next summer. The standard required is therefore rising, with more participants, most of whom have French championship experience. The tasks nevertheless remain accessible to as many people as possible, from newly qualified pilots to moustachioed veterans. Indeed, the classic class competition is above all a way of raising its participants' standards of piloting and safety, by requiring a rigour and level of commitment that lead pilots to reassess their skills. Two more regionals are planned this season, at Saint Martin de Castillon (84) in mid-October and Feurs (42) in late October. Many pilots have already signed up, alone or in pairs: why not you?
