Editorial: new team, new momentum!

Horizon ULM 2028 with Christian Santini
Without any ambiguity, the club presidents have put the Horizon ULM 2028 team, with Christian Santini, currently vice-president of the federation, as president, at the head of the federation at the last elective general assembly. These results are indisputable proof that you want a team united behind the same objectives of defending our interests and the same desire to serve our movement.
The 2022 Sports Act brought many constraints, but it also allows a deep renewal of elected officials by imposing criteria of representation and gender balance that are part of modern democratic requirements. This law also “resets” federations onto a single calendar that ends with the Olympic term. All the federation’s governing bodies, regional committees included, will therefore be renewed for 1st January 2025.
The Ministry of Sport will then grant a new term contract. The programme of the Horizon ULM 2028 team will form the basis of the Federal Sports Plan, which sets out the federation’s actions over the next four years at every level. There are many subjects. There will be obvious continuity on essential topics (training, regulation, sport, inclusive practices) but also the need for a new style and a new stamp.
The recent adoption of new statutes allows, for example, the creation of new licences: a real licence for young people, the “PLUME licence”, and temporary licences, as well as arrangements that will modernise our federal tools and better meet current expectations.
Thank you to all the teams who have worked with me: elected officials, volunteers, employees and service providers. For my part, I fully intend to step aside completely and get some time back, but the new team can always count on my total and unwavering support.
I wish you a happy festive season.
Let’s keep it simple, it’s microlighting!
