Editorial: united for the future of microlighting

Our next General Assembly is an essential event for our federation and for our whole community. It will be not only an opportunity to review the past year, but above all to look ahead and strengthen our collective commitment.
It will be held on Saturday 22 March at the DGAC premises. It is a special occasion to meet up and exchange ideas.
For our sport, our federation is the only one recognised as the point of contact for the ministries that oversee us. This recognition is valuable and commits us to being ever more united and representative in defending our specific features and our rights. However, it must be clearly understood that being listened to does not always mean being heard. It is our authorities who decide and put the rules in place, because it is their role to regulate and guarantee safety in our field. Our mission is therefore to make our voice heard with clarity, rigour and determination, highlighting the values and realities of our sport.
The regulatory environment is changing and the French civil aviation authority (DGAC) is about to publish new texts that will have a direct impact on our sport, notably the reform of instructor training but also the rules on paid flights.
FFPLUM is fully committed to defending and preserving our declaratory regime, which allows microlighting to remain accessible, innovative and free aviation. Let us not forget that “French-style microlighting” is still the freest regulation in Europe and that, in the practice of our leisure activity, it brings no additional constraints.
It is together, by showing unwavering solidarity, that we can continue to assert our specific character and guarantee a secure future for our movement.
This General Assembly will be an opportunity to discuss and support the new reforms, but also and above all to present the projects now under way. It is our cohesion that has allowed us so far to maintain a regulatory framework suited to our passion, and it is what will allow us to preserve it.
We are counting on you to take an active part in this General Assembly, to discuss and build the future of our federation together.
Let us stay united, stay mobilised, and keep our shared passion alive and free.
Georges Humeau
