The 38th international festival of all things microlight was held at Blois - Le Breuil aerodrome (LFOQ) on the weekend of 1 and 2 September 2018.

The show entrance

A forest of small white marquees gleaming in the sun, with multicoloured flags and pennants

All of microlight flying is represented at Blois: this photo shows four classes: weight-shift (class 2), gyroplane (class 4), helicopter (class 6), three-axis (class 3)

And the three-axis microlights

Many flying demonstrations: here a helicopter (class 6) flying backwards

A three-axis microlight (class 3) taking off

Another impressive demonstration: two gyroplanes (class 4) flying in formation

Microlight flying is open to everyone: women and young people were in the spotlight this year.

The Young Pilots Committee
The Federation's Young Pilots Committee, which is behind many projects, was well represented (with around fifteen young people present) to discuss and debate the actions it carries out to introduce young people to microlight flying and promote it to them, particularly in this anniversary year marking 50 years of the BIA.

Conferences and debates
Each year the federation organises forums made up of conferences and knowledge exchanges, including several talks on current topics - notably the very recent development of the European regulation on microlight masses - given by federal officials and experts.

Before the Federation's conferences, young engineer Baptiste Labile presented his Corali project (https://www.facebook.com/projetcorali/)

Sébastien Perrot, president of the French Microlight Federation, flanked by vice-presidents Pierre-Henri Lopez and Louis Collardeau, opens the conference on the new European regulation

Louis Collardeau, first vice-president in charge of international relations and regulation, sets out the principles of this new regulation in a packed marquee.

Antoine Toulemont of the DGAC also spoke at length on European Cooperation and Safety/Airworthiness Regulation

Jean-Christophe Gibert, head of the "Flight safety" Committee, and Alain Jamet of the DGAC led the discussions on Safety and answered many questions.

The Federation's elected officials also take advantage of this gathering to hold impromptu working meetings
