The members of the Chambley club have always been sensitive to issues linked to illness or disability. We organise or take part in events for disabled children, disadvantaged children and, as with the last two events, days for children in hospital.
Very often, this is done in collaboration with other organisations. It may be with the Balloon club, the motor racing circuit or the aeroplane club at Chambley Airbase. We also never miss the chance to travel elsewhere to take part in special days. This was the case when we joined our friends from the "Three Borders club" for Operation Rafaël. (This is an association that brings a little comfort and relaxation to families hard hit by illness.) Among the children and teenagers present, several have very serious conditions, for whom these breaks are wonderful.
Recently, an event in aid of the association "REVES", which grants the wishes of seriously ill children, was held at our airbase together with the association Grands Cœurs & Co, the Chambley flying club, the Air de glisse hovercraft club and our microlight club.
Each year, this means 20 or 30 children and their families. These special moments give meaning to the word "Solidarity" and help us put our little worries and minor ailments into perspective. There is no finer reward than the smiles we see on their faces.
