The common microlight pilot theory exam is taken at an FFPLUM exam centre: choose your centre and session on examulm.ffplum.fr.

The theory exam

Taking the exam, in four steps

A 60-question multiple-choice test in 1 h 30, administered by the Civil Aviation authority. It is generally prepared during practical training and must be passed before the certificate test. You only take it once, whatever class you then aim for.

  1. Go to examulm.ffplum.fr

The dedicated website explains how to register and how the exam works.

  2. Choose your exam centre

The centres are FFPLUM-affiliated clubs and schools; the map of open centres is online.

  3. Choose the session

The session (date) that suits you.

  4. Take the exam

The supervisors, who are microlight pilot instructors, welcome candidates and invigilate the exams at their centre.

Microlight exam

The essentials

  • The FFPLUM, the French Microlight Federation, is the delegated body for organising the common microlight pilot theory exam.
  • Since July 2022, about 50 FFPLUM exam centres have been open. Several hundred places are available at all times for candidates.
  • The order of 4 May 2000, as amended, sets the conditions for equivalence of the theory certificate: holders of a valid aeroplane or helicopter pilot licence (Part-FCL, or issued by an EEA state, Switzerland or the United Kingdom), or of a certificate of competence in the corresponding theory exam obtained less than 24 months ago.
