Sport: Microlights, the season is starting!

The microlight competition season is about to begin! After an introductory competition course organised by Patricia Bé, competitions resume in May, with our two microlight disciplines: classic and STOL.

Introduction to competition course

Patricia Bé, a former competitor and member of the Board of Directors, organised an introductory microlight competition course at Nuits-Saint-Georges aerodrome on Saturday 23 April 2022. We told you about it in last month's newsletter.

The day was very rewarding for everyone, with about twenty trainees attending in person and remotely. During the day, Patricia Bé, a former competitor, presented her career through a talk illustrated with anecdotes, advice and tips, which everyone listened to very attentively. After a meal organised by Jean-Pierre Caumont, president of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté regional committee, the afternoon was devoted to practice:

• How do you prepare a navigation in competition?
• With what equipment?

Competitions organised in 2022

Many paramotor competitions have already taken place this year. The microlight season will begin in the coming days with, for the 1^nd time, regional STOL competitions at Bordeaux Saucats aerodrome and Quiberon aerodrome.

In addition to the regional STOL competitions, regional classic competitions return from June 2022. The season starts on 25 and 26 June with an Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regional competition at Montluçon aerodrome (LFLT). The season will continue with the French Championship in Auch, plus two further regional competitions: 24 and 25 September 2022 at Sainte-Thorette and 15 and 16 October 2022 at Saint-Martin-de-Castillon.
