European microlight news briefs as lockdown eases

News15 May 20201 min read

News from 15 May 2020. It has not been updated since it was published: some information may have changed. Latest news

Within the EMF (European Microlight Federation), lockdown measures and flying restrictions have varied quite a lot. To put it briefly, in the north and east flying restrictions were minimal and mostly came down to health protection measures when using aircraft. Further south, as well as in Belgium and the English-speaking countries, lockdown was much stricter, meaning a flying ban for pilots.

To date, several countries, France among them, have begun a cautious, gradual easing of lockdown, with flying resuming step by step, mainly solo, along with dual flights with instructors for return-to-flying sessions and training, subject to strict health protection measures on every flight and in the use of facilities.

Our friends at the Belgian Microlight Federation (BULMF), after two months of lockdown without flying, as we have had, gradually resumed flying from Monday 11 May with health measures in place.

To that end, they made a video showing how to apply the right barrier measures when using aircraft, which match perfectly those we have put in place. We invite you to watch this instructive video at the following link: https://youtu.be/2AoXEmtr0PQ
