General aviation activities under the new lockdown measures
On 28 October 2020, the President of the Republic decided to take measures to reduce contact and travel across the whole territory to the strict minimum by introducing a new lockdown from 30 October until 1 December at the earliest.
The arrangements for this lockdown are set out in decree No. 2020-1310 of 29 October 2020, as amended, which specifies the journeys permitted.
The following activities and the travel they involve are permitted:
- professional training provided by an ATO or another professional training body registered with the DIRECCTE for its area (article 35 of the decree),
- exams (article 4.I.1.c of the decree),
- flights made by a company for its business activity (aerial work, maintenance flights, transport, proficiency maintenance).
Each pilot must make sure that their flight is compatible with any additional measures that may be taken by the prefects.
In addition, in the current context, each pilot is invited to file a VFR flight plan before setting off and to close it after landing, to avoid an unnecessary search being triggered.
