Provisional certificate of microlight pilot certificate

While awaiting issue of the certificate and the corresponding licence by a licensing department, candidates for a microlight (ULM) pilot certificate and licence who have passed the theory and practical tests required to obtain it may exercise its privileges if they hold a provisional certificate compliant with the authority's procedures, in order to fly solo on microlights of the class for which they have qualified, for a maximum period of 8 weeks.
This provision had initially been introduced as a temporary derogation during the Covid-19 crisis but had expired on 31 December 2020.
This publication is the outcome of the requests the federation has made several times to the DGAC, to take account of administrative delays in the regional DSAC offices in issuing the microlight pilot certificate/licence.
This order does, however, need to be supplemented with the same possibility for certain additional ratings, such as radiotelephony, passenger carrying and new class extensions, as well as renewals. Discussions are still under way with the DGAC to reach a swift outcome on this subject.
