Blois Microlight World Meeting 2021: D-100!

News item of 26 May 2021. Last updated on 15 June 2021: some information may have changed. Latest news

The official countdown has started before the opening of the 40th edition of the Blois show: we are at D-100! If there is one place that has presented microlighting in all its diversity, its evolution and its trends for 40 years, it is the Blois show.

An undisputed showcase for microlighting, from its first beginnings to today's technological achievement. Where else in Europe can you find such a fine showcase, bringing together every facet of microlighting and giving manufacturers the chance to present the diversity of their output? For three days, Blois will be the world capital of microlighting, and the whole FFPLUM wants to make this event a great friendly celebration, the annual gathering of all microlight enthusiasts in all its forms.

For this new edition, the show becomes the “MONDIAL DE l’ULM” (MULM), organised in partnership with the Loir-et-Cher département. At the initiative of its president Sébastien Perrot, who wanted the Federation to organise this major event from now on, the whole FFPLUM team has been working for several months to prepare this new 2021 edition.

Quite a few new features are planned for this next Blois show, which takes the new name Mondial de l’ULM (MULM) and will run from 3 to 5 September 2021 at Blois-Le Breuil aerodrome with a “prestigious line-up”. During these three days of celebration, talks, activities and demonstrations, Blois will be the capital of microlight air sports for everyone, with its six classes: from the paramotor to the helicopter!

All over the world, ultralight flying is growing. The very wide range of products on show in Blois will let everyone find the machine best suited to their budget and intended use. There is also an emerging trend towards greater simplicity and accessibility, and we will do our utmost to present this type of aircraft too.

With health restrictions lifted, many pilots will take the opportunity of the Blois show to come and swap views on the latest innovations. Everything is in place to welcome them, from a camping area to shuttles between the airfield and the town centre, on-site catering and even a little train to tour this 2021 microlight world show.

A "used microlights" area is planned within the show: sellers and buyers will be brought together in a space set aside for them to meet.

The main equipment makers will be there: propellers, braking systems, radio headsets, paramotor wings, GMP engine makers… all the services and equipment specific to microlighting will be there. Other federations will be present (RSA, FFM, etc.), along with an area to introduce you to the regional specialities of Loir-et-Cher. The programme of this Mondial de l’ULM includes several highlights, notably a magnificent air show called “40 years of microlighting”, which will take place on Saturday 4 September from 17:00.

2021 will also celebrate the great return of paramotors to the Blois microlight show, with an aerial parade by the French paramotor team and other surprises we will tell you about later.

This year FFPLUM celebrates its fortieth anniversary. Several figures from the microlight world will take the opportunity to meet at this Mondial de l'ULM, including Alain Dreyer, FFPLUM's 1st president, who has agreed to be patron of this event, Patrice Franceschi, who made the 1st round-the-world microlight flight between 1984 and 1987, René Coulon and many other microlight pioneers.

The new version of the Mondial de l'ULM takes account of environmental developments and the constraints that naturally apply to pilots. We must commit to answering the fundamental questions of sustainable development in order to secure the future of our activity, and the 2021 Mondial de l'ULM will also be a place for discussion on this theme.

MULM 2021 will be an opportunity to show the capacity of our ultralight aviation to innovate and adapt to tomorrow's challenges.

Pilots, clubs, professionals, microlight enthusiasts: from 3 to 5 September 2021, the Mondial de l'ULM invites you to discover all the latest innovations, from the paramotor to the class 6 helicopter.

All the news will be reported regularly in the federation's newsletter, on social media, in issue 116 of ULM INFO, due out in early July 2021, and in the specialist press.
