Border controls reinstated in the Schengen Area
News from 19 October 2022. Last updated on 21 October 2022: some information may have changed. Latest news
In view of the current geopolitical tensions within the European Union, some countries have reintroduced border controls in the SCHENGEN Area.
This means that before making a flight from or to another country, in addition to the usual flight plan (FPL) and compliance with the country’s microlight flying rules, you will again have to plan to stop at a customs airport (see the VAC chart) on entry after crossing the border, if the national regulations of the destination country require it.
As this information is generally not included in aeronautical documentation, to prepare your flight you can find this list of customs provisions, regularly updated by each country, on the European Commission website via the following link: https://home-affairs.ec.europa.eu/policies/schengen-borders-and-visa/schengen-area/temporary-reintroduction-border-control_en
