The ISAS Year 10 students at the Lycée Jean-Jacques Henner in Altkirch took part in a comic-strip competition organised by their history-geography teacher, Mme Guilloteau, on the theme “From the Earth to the Moon”, as part of their introduction to aeronautics and space.

The whole educational community of the Lycée Jean-Jacques Henner was invited to come and admire the work done by the students of the ISAS Year 10 class (Initiation aux Sciences Aéronautiques et Spatiales) and to vote for the three best comic strips. The rules of the competition were for each group to produce three comic-strip pages illustrating the great moments of the conquest of air and space. Among the varied and fascinating subjects, such as the stories of the astronauts “Neil Armstrong” and “Yuri Gagarin”, three groups stood out, taking fourth to second place respectively: “Space X”, “Apollo 11 Mission” and “The Space Race: Sputnik I vs Explorer I”. A special mention for the quality of the work on “Amelia Earhart”, which won first place.

The prize-giving took place in the lycée’s CDI with the class’s teaching team and the school’s deputy head, M. Risacher, present. The winners were spoiled by the lycée’s association (Assos'JJH): boxes of chocolates and comic books about… Thomas Pesquet! Aviatik CAP 68 also wanted to take part in the prize-giving by offering the first-place group a 30-minute introductory flight aboard the club’s three-axis microlight.
