An aeronautics course in the winter holidays and the official inauguration of a classroom dedicated to the ISAS Year 10 class were the highlights of this month of March.
This month, volunteer students from the ISAS Year 10 class benefited from a course to deepen their knowledge for the Brevet d'Initiation Aéronautique. A small group of about ten volunteers came back to the lycée during the winter holidays for a morning, with the programme being to work out a complete navigation between LFGB (Habsheim) and LFSM (Montbéliard), revising the different stages of preparing a cross-country flight: from drawing the route on the chart to filling in the nav log, via radio frequencies and safe altitudes, up to updating with the day’s data: AIP SUPs, METAR, TAF, NOTAMs, time and drift calculations, fuel planning… four busy hours that passed very quickly!
The other highlight of this winter period was the official inauguration of a classroom dedicated to the ISAS Year 10 aeronautics lessons. The head teacher, Mme Bosswingel, the teaching team and the students, all wearing the famous sweatshirt in the class colours, enthusiastically watched the traditional ribbon cutting that officially opened the doors of this ISAS classroom; a room recognisable among all others thanks to its decorations, all centred on the theme of aeronautics. The local press was also present to cover the event and see the presentation of this out-of-the-ordinary Year 10 class.
