Season 20204 December 20202 min read

In the legal tangle we are living through in this strange period, things should normally become clearer from 15 December. Nothing should prevent flying from resuming for everyone. Moreover, even though nothing is ever certain, the outlook for 2021 with the arrival of a vaccine seems favourable to a return to more normal social life.

Paradoxically, the Federation, like some outdoor activities, enjoyed a strong rebound between the two lockdowns, and the year ends with a favourable licence balance. But 2021 will leave its mark, particularly in the aviation world.

It will soon be time to take out a licence for 2021 and perhaps take out insurance. You can very well hold a licence and take out insurance elsewhere, but you must compare like with like. The Federation is not here to sell insurance but to support you as well as possible in your flying. A great deal of important work is done by employees, elected officials, support staff and all our partners to defend your passion.

Let's compare what can be compared!

The balance between regulation, flight safety, training and all the activity divisions guarantees a framework that applies to everyone. As you have seen, it is the Federation alone that defends you concretely through its many actions at both national and European level. If we want to keep flying freely, we must be proactive on every subject, and it is not enough to strike poses, still less online ones, for things to stay as they are. We also have to work!

By taking out your licence, you benefit from the assistance of the federal team on every aspect of your flying. You benefit (whether or not insured through the federation) from very comprehensive legal assistance and from the expertise of the Federation's lawyer, whether you are a pilot, instructor, landowner, or club or OBL manager. You also benefit from all the support offered and from guidance on specific subjects.

On insurance in particular, we offer, among other things:

  • Tailored user liability insurance negotiated with national insurers of recognised solidity, whereas others offer foreign insurers with new Chinese capital on the market.
  • Special instructor user liability insurance, unique on the market and particularly competitive.
  • Special liability cover for parking and static running if you do not wish to fly again from the start of the year while still covering your machine on the ground.
  • A sponsorship programme for clubs and OBLs with easy payment terms from 1 000 euros.

To be as close as possible to the expectations of club and OBL officials, we are setting up a support programme for organisations. If you would like to be contacted for specific support or to review your projects, write to: soutienstructure2021@ffplum.org

Beyond the question of insurance, taking out your federal licence means above all showing your commitment to the action of the FFPLUM, "your Federation", and supporting as a whole the distinctive features of the French microlight movement, which is simple, free and accessible, and to which we are all strongly attached and which make our success.

As you will have understood, the Federation is at your side to meet your expectations as well as possible.

Sébastien Perrot

President of FFPLUM
