Flight Director training at the Federation’s headquarters

News item of 30 June 2023. Last updated on 3 July 2023: some information may have changed. Latest news

The new regulations on air shows have profoundly changed the legal and operational framework for “air events”. The key link in any event remains, of course, the role of the Flight Director and their deputy. People with the skills and experience needed to be a flight director (DV) are rare. To keep this essential pool of DVs supplied, the Federation has set up a qualifying training course, which will be repeated as often as necessary.

On Tuesday 27 June, a dozen trainees took part in this course, led by Louis Collardeau, 1st Vice-President in charge of international relations and regulation.

Members who wish to move into flight direction are welcome on these courses, which are a prerequisite for meeting the requirements of the order of 10 November 2021 on air events. The courses last one full day and take place at the Federation’s headquarters or in the regions.
