Mobilisation against the municipal decision to close Sallanches aerodrome
The French Microlight Federation and the CNFAS (National Council of Aeronautical and Sports Federations) are mobilising together to defend airfields.
Given the importance of Sallanches aerodrome for the safety of the different types of aeronautical activity, the CNFAS, through its law firm, has filed an urgent application for suspension (référé suspension) against the decision to close the airfield, taken by the mayor of Sallanches, with the Grenoble administrative court, with a view to having it annulled. This decision has also been the subject of a request for withdrawal from the Prefect of Haute-Savoie because it does not comply with the regulations.
The joint work of the CNFAS, users and the French Microlight Federation on these cases is essential to protecting and sustaining aeronautical activities on our airfields.
As soon as the Mayor of Sallanches announced on 13 February 2019 his intention to close the aerodrome, FFPLUM mobilised immediately to oppose this decision, taking steps on several fronts:
- Approaching our supervisory authorities, in particular Civil Aviation, to ensure the law is respected.
- Joining forces within the CNFAS with the other federations concerned to launch and coordinate our actions by pooling our strengths, in particular by providing legal support to bring court actions. An urgent application is under way before the administrative court.
- Encouraging and supporting the creation of a Committee for the Safeguarding of Sallanches Aerodrome, the CSDAS, which represents the interests of all regular or occasional users of this wonderful flying site in the heart of the Mont-Blanc massif.
- Maintaining permanent contact between FFPLUM and local stakeholders.
- Communicating through aeronautical media, websites and social networks to keep you regularly informed on this case.
