Flying over the D-Day beaches
Flying over the D-Day beaches?

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings and the passage of the Olympic Flame, the LF1456 Omaha Beach Airfield microlight airfield offers an exceptional opportunity, for these two major events, to use its private facilities to host microlights such as the Zlin Savage, the Piper Cub, or preferably other high-wing 3-axis aircraft (non-exhaustive list).

For this, the 17/35 runway, 300 metres long and as close as possible to Omaha Beach (about 500 metres from the American cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer and 10 minutes’ flying from Pointe du Hoc), allows immediate overflight of the most iconic Second World War sites, where many young soldiers gave their lives for our freedom.
A US re-enactment camp with many military vehicles is also planned, with rides in period Jeeps available.
- Total capacity: 20 to 30 aircraft
- Camping possible on the airfield.
- Snacks available nearby.

Participation and booking fees are 50 euros per aeroplane per day and 20 euros per accompanying person.

Please note that on 5 and 6 June, overflying the region will very probably be prohibited.
