2024 sporting season: we're off!

With spring comes the return of the competition season. After the long winter break, it is time to get out the map holders, the pins, the roll of tape and the protractors! If you don't know what all these tools are for and your curiosity is aroused, now is the time to sign up for an introductory course!
The federal calendar is well filled this year, with no fewer than 27 events: introductory competition courses, regional competitions, national competitions and international competitions, there is something for every level and above all every discipline!
Classic paramotor, slalom or endurance, classic microlight or STOL, every pilot will find their place.
The sporting calendar is available on the federation's website.
Why not you?
Hesitating about getting into competition? Competition is first and foremost a gathering of people passionate about flying, with mutual help and a great spirit of friendliness. Why not come with friends or with your club?
Competition is a way to improve and go further once you have your certificate. It is really like an advanced course: competition is not just a race for a medal. In competition you learn to manage several parameters at once: reading a map (GPS is banned during the events), finding your position on the ground, managing your machine's fuel consumption, landing accurately (very useful in everyday flying, in case of engine failure!), and so on. This is active safety in practice.
If you still have doubts, know finally that you are never obliged to take part in every event, and that in any case safety is always the race directors' priority.
Great events in 2024
The year 2024 also brings great national and international events.
As for the French championship, the 2024 edition will be dedicated to Marie and Michel Touitou, who tragically left us last year. They were pilots and also competitors, recognised by all for their performances and above all for their sense of friendship and sharing.
Also worth noting is the revival of a French microlight team, which will defend our colours at the world championships to be held in England this summer.
Also new is the paramotor endurance world championship, in which France will also take part. Sustainable flight is indeed becoming an issue for both our leisure and our sporting activities. Logically, this type of event is making its appearance in championships. The aim is to accumulate as many tasks as possible in a set flying time per day. We will give all the details in a forthcoming publication.
