News of 14 December 2017. Last updated on 30 October 2018: some information may have changed. Latest news

As of 31 August 2018, FFPLUM is registered with ORIAS, the single register of insurance, banking and finance intermediaries, as an agent of an insurance intermediary under no. 18005543.

Through AIR COURTAGE ASSURANCES, FFPLUM has negotiated:

  • insurance cover that each member can take out at the same time as their federation licence or during the year.
  • insurance cover automatically granted to FFPLUM-affiliated clubs and schools (subject to compliance with the Federation's statutes).

Personal accident (IA)

Personal accident insurance compensates policyholders in the event of an accident, up to the compensation amount chosen. The base rate for this cover has been reduced this year, and four new cover levels have been added for pilot personal accident insurance.

Third-party liability (RC)

It covers you for damage caused to third parties for which you are liable, whether through fault (with exceptions such as wilful misconduct), imprudence or negligence. For microlight flying, it therefore covers you for damage caused while flying.

  • User liability (RC Utilisateur)

User liability covers the person who takes it out, regardless of the machine they fly. It is therefore useful for owners of one or more machines, or for those who want to fly freely on the machine of their choice. Students and passengers do not need to take out third-party liability insurance, as they are normally covered by that of their pilot or instructor, provided the latter has taken out two-seat insurance.

NEW: For instructors, a new liability policy has been introduced this year, at a competitive rate.

  • Aircraft liability (RC Aéronef)

Aircraft liability is tied to the machine for which it is taken out. This means damage is covered regardless of who is using it and who took out the insurance. It is therefore useful for club machines, as it exempts the various club members from taking out user liability (provided this insurance has actually been taken out), and for machines with several owners or regular users. In the latter case, a single person takes out and pays for this insurance, and the cost is shared among those concerned.

  • Aircraft liability when parked

NEW: This is a new cover: it covers damage caused when the machine is at rest, or "outside flight operations". It was previously (and still is) included as a free extension. As a separate cover, it is useful for people who know they will not fly for a certain period, allowing them to take out User or Aircraft liability insurance only later in the year (and so benefit from the sliding scale). It then costs €5 per microlight.

Damage-at-rest cover

NEW: This is new for the 2019 season. It is cover designed to protect against damage to aircraft when they are at rest. This cover has two benefits. First, repair of damage caused by a natural cause or for which no responsible party can be identified. Second, it allows the insurer to repair the damage immediately and then claim against any responsible party, instead of having to find the responsible party before being compensated. It therefore ensures reimbursement of the damage, up to the amount paid for the policy, according to the capital value levels.
