Federation news5 April 20191 min read

News from 5 April 2019. It has not been updated since it was published: some information may have changed. Latest news

After several years as a volunteer at the federation and as Head of the Flight Safety Committee, my professional and family obligations no longer allow me to find the time needed for the demanding task of improving Flight Safety in microlighting.

That is why I asked President Sébastien Perrot to let me step back from the microlight federation.

Jean-Christophe Gibert is taking over the Flight Safety Committee, and I know I can count fully on him to continue the work.

We have done a great deal in recent years: overhauling the Flight Safety Memo and the BSV, building up the network of Flight Safety Officers, improving our RASU database, establishing strong links with the Authority and the BEA, taking part in many flight safety bodies, supporting initiatives such as the development of an angle-of-attack indicator and a mapping data management application, organising many safety actions in the regions, setting up REVs, and so on and so forth...

I am proud to see that all these actions are bearing fruit and that our accident record, although still fragile, shows a growing maturity of the microlight movement and its pilots. That is why we retain the Authority's trust and why our regulation is not being called into question. I am also proud to have met many microlight pilots from all walks of life, ready to commit to Flight Safety, who make our movement so rich.

Much remains to be done, and do not forget that the main players in Flight Safety are you!!

Yours in microlight flying,

eric galvagno Eric Galvagno
