FFPLUM press release - Fatal accident at the Paramotor Open de France in Savines-le-Lac
News from 25 June 2022. It has not been updated since it was published: some information may have changed. Latest news

On the last day of the Slalom Open, held all week at Savines-le-Lac as part of the Paramotor Slalom Open de France, a fatal accident occurred while one of the competitors was waiting before entering the course. Initial indications are that a wing collapse, the causes of which are yet to be established, led to a fall of 100 metres onto the body of water. The very rapid intervention of the firefighters on site was unable to save the pilot, who probably died on impact rather than by drowning.
The competition was stopped immediately and work began with all the competent authorities. The BEA investigation will establish the details of the circumstances and ways of improving safety after an accident that did not occur during the race itself.
Above all, we wish to express our deepest sadness to the victim's loved ones and family. The federation will do everything necessary to support them as best it can in their grief. On behalf of the federation, we also wish to express our sympathy to all the pilots and officials present on site, who often make us dream and with whom we stand in solidarity, more than ever, in this tragic situation.
