What next?

Since the previous newsletter, the regulatory environment has not changed. The federation therefore continues to encourage:
- Local flights
- In strict compliance with health rules
- Excluding introductory flights for now (until 2 June)
This position was ultimately adopted by all the federations of the Conseil National des Fédérations Aéronautiques et Sportives (CNFAS). The resumption of flying is going well overall: gradual and reasonable. However, this morning we regret the first fatal microlight accident of the year, a solo flight in the local area. While every accident is a tragedy, flight safety must be seen over the long term, and the indicators have been favourable for two years.
Since 11 May, more than 400 REV+ flights have been declared! This is a remarkable result for the exceptional operation we put in place (REV+ = €60) under the scheme developed two years ago with the support of the Directorate General for Civil Aviation and the contribution of insurers. Our instructors are more than ever at the heart of our activity.
Most instructors, clubs and companies have received a set of new microphone foam covers. We will adjust quantities if necessary and are considering other initiatives to support this complicated period.
The aim is to allow, from 2 June, if health conditions are favourable, an extension to all flights within the travel limits that will apply to everyone. This would guarantee a summer season in almost “normal” conditions. Introductory flights are essential both for people discovering our activity and for the life of our clubs and schools. This is of course the favourable scenario, which will be put forward by the CNFAS, which has been meeting by video conference every week for three weeks.
Regarding maintenance flights, we have agreed with the authorities to continue the protocol that was in place during lockdown. The FFA takes the same position as the FFPLUM, but note that our procedure is slightly different (see). Conditions should also be considerably easier after 2 June, always with the caution that these changeover dates demand, as they have brought their share of surprises and discord for over two months.
A new transport protocol may also be published before then, or even after, or never… It goes without saying that you will be informed immediately. Don't worry: the federations are working harder than ever to make it easier to pursue our passion!
Safe flying
Take care of yourselves
